National Philanthropy Day was instituted by AFP in an effort to bring attention to the significant assistance individuals give to community based organizations. This day is set aside to recognize individuals who donate their financial resources for the enrichment of the community and the world in which we live. Whether they give locally, nationally or internationally, the bottom line is that philanthropic giving enables nonprofit organization to assist others, hence the National Philanthropy Day mantra, Change the World with a Giving Heart.
Each year the local AFP chapter recognizes exceptional philanthropic and volunteer contributions in Northeast Indiana on National Philanthropy Day.
