PBS39 holding ribbon cutting ceremony

Fort Wayne’s Public television station, PBS39, will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:30am at its teleplex located at 2501 East Coliseum Boulevard in Fort Wayne. This ceremony is to mark the completion of the first phase of PBS39’s technology campaign, “Empowering Community Connections.” At this ceremony will be Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry to assist PBS39’s staff and Board Of Directors in marking this milestone.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 10:30am and will include remarks by Mayor Henry as well as PBS39’s President/General Manager Bruce Haines and others on what this milestone means to the community and the state and future of Public Television in Fort Wayne.

“Empowering Community Connections” got its official start on May 3 of this year with a station visit by PBS President/CEO Paula Kerger. Overall details of the campaign were made public and local fundraising began for this technology initiative that, when completed, will allow PBS39 to upgrade several key areas of its infrastructure. In turn, these upgrades will let PBS39 continue and enhance its mission of broadcasting and delivering commercial-free educational programs and content to all the communities within its service area in northeast Indiana and parts of northwest Ohio and southern Michigan.

Details of the completion of this first phase will be revealed at the event on Monday, October 28. Press/Media kits including photos and video footage will also be available at this event for later use.
