FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The product of a year’s work by the Schouweiler Planetarium staff at the University of Saint Francis, the debut of “Larry Cat in Space,” will be offered this weekend as part of the university’s Fall Planetarium Weekend.
“Larry Cat in Space” is a playful, imaginative cartoon about an inquisitive cat who takes a trip to the moon. Children of all ages will enjoy it, including some jokes that will also tickle the adult funny bone, planetarium staff said. Created by Loch Ness Productions, “Larry Cat in Space” was produced and directed at the Shouweiler by planetarium educator Kirsten “Niki” Habegger.
The 90-minute planetarium experience will include information about the moon and a staff-guided live tour of the Fort Wayne night sky.
The Fall Planetarium Weekend also includes the show “Aurora,” which focuses on the mystery and beauty of the Northern Lights. The schedule follows.
“Larry Cat in Space,” for the whole family, is Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m.
“Aurora,” for fifth-graders through adults, is Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Viewers should arrive 15 minutes early to purchase tickets. No one will be admitted after the program starts. Young children must be able to sit quietly in the dark.
Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children under 18 and senior citizens. The maximum charge is $14 per family (two adults and their dependent children). Admission for Fort Wayne Astronomical Society members and USF students, faculty and staff with ID is $1.
