Fort Wayne Chick-fil-A Collects Shoebox Gifts for Needy Children

WHAT: A special collection day with Fort Wayne Chick-fil-A restaurant and Operation Christmas Child, a project that sends millions of gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children overseas.

Anyone who drops off a shoebox gift filled with small items such as school supplies, toys and hygiene items will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich at the local participating store.

WHEN: Shoeboxes filled with gifts can be dropped off on Nov. 7 from 4pm – 7pm.

After Nov. 7, additional shoebox gifts can be dropped off at one of the many area drop-off centers during National Collection Week, November 18-25. Operation Christmas Child, a project of international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse headed by Franklin Graham, has collected more than 100 million shoebox gifts since 1993. Through simple gifts and a message of hope, children learn they are loved and not forgotten. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect another 9.8 million gift-filled shoeboxes in 2013, with 35,200 coming from Northeast Indiana.
