Huntington University recognized for its commitment to Youth for Christ

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — The Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ presented Huntington University with the Brian Kline Leadership Award on Thursday evening in honor of the university’s partnership and commitment to the organization.

“The university has been more than open to the Youth for Christ ministry,” said Larry Lance, the executive director of the Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ (YFC). “I think that our missions really collide. We are all about helping students find Christ and that is at the heart of each of our missions.”

The award, named in honor of Brian Kline who was a leader in the local YFC and a noted businessman in the Huntington community, is presented to individuals or organizations who have a high level of commitment to YFC.

“Huntington University has a long-standing partnership with Youth for Christ, and President Sherilyn Emberton has indicated her desire to increase that commitment,” said Roger Vezeau, the chief ministry officer of the Huntington County campus ministry office and a 1984 alum of HU. “We are excited about this relationship.”

Many of HU’s alumni have gone on to work for the area YFC and serve on its board, and numerous HU students complete internships with the organization throughout the year.

“We are so honored to be recognized as a partner with Youth for Christ,” Emberton said. “Huntington University is blessed to be included as a collaborator with such an outstanding organization that does so much to train future leaders for Christ.”

Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
