Celebrating its 14th year, the Waynedale Community Picnic will be held on August 27th from 10am to 3pm at the Waynedale Park. The picnic is a FREE, family friendly event that feeds and entertains 2,000+ Waynedale guests for the event’s afternoon. This year’s picnic is presented by The Waynedale News, Circle City Audio, VFW Post 1421, Robinson Family Eyecare Clinic, Waynedale Marathon/ Jerry’s Marathon and Hanson Aggregates and made possible by over a hundred local businesses and organizations who have donated to the community event. The Waynedale Community Picnic is open to all families in the Waynedale community.

Megan Ryan (Bishop Luers HS teacher) is the lead event coordinator and organizer of the event, who had introduced many new features to the long standing event last year, is back and has been working to make it even better! Josie Greenwell is the new event management assistant of the picnic this year, who has added her talents from working with non-profits and event management to the event. Both Megan and Josie have worked tirelessly to contact hundreds of businesses and volunteers to bring this event to life. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Josie @ 260-615-9881.

This year, the event will showcase a live band "Loudmouth Soup" from noon to 3pm, emergency vehicle tour and the Waynedale Park splash pad will also be open. To accommodate for these new features and all of the picnic favorites, the event layout will be similar to last year in order to better utilize the Waynedale Park grounds.

Guests will also enjoy classic features of the Waynedale Community Picnic including, a free lunch, bingo with prizes, children’s games, an arts & crafts tent, inflatable obstacle course, face painting, vendors and much more!

This year Koons street will be closed for through traffic and only utilized for emergency vehicle display as well as handicapped parking. There will also be FWPD officers available to help with traffic flow and parking, keeping Elzey one way going north from McArthur to Lower Huntington Road with parking only on the east side. We hope this will help with some of the congestion and offer more assistance to those needing it.

The Waynedale Community Picnic encourages guests of all ages to come to enjoy the event. They would also like to thank all of the businesses, organizations and individuals who have donated money, prizes and their talents to make this event happen. Without their efforts, this "community togetherness" event would not be possible. For more information about the Waynedale Community Picnic, please see www.waynedale.com/picnic
