TinCaps Announce 2017 Schedule

At the tail end of a record-setting season of attendance at Parkview Field, the TinCaps have announced the schedule for the 2017 season, the 25th anniversary of pro baseball in Fort Wayne, and will be handing out free 16-month calendars, presented by Parkview Physicians Group, at the final seven home games in the 2016 regular season (August 26-29 and August 31-Sept. 2).

“We still have an exciting end in store for this 2016 season, and it’s been an incredible year packing Parkview Field,” TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. “That being said, we’re excited to look ahead to 2017, which will be the special 25th anniversary of pro baseball in Fort Wayne, and it should be another great year.”

After two games on the road to begin the 2017 regular season, the TinCaps return to Parkview Field for their home opener April 8 (Saturday, 6:05 p.m.) against the Lansing Lugnuts.

That home opener will feature Postgame Fireworks, the first of 31 games with fireworks to follow. Once again, the TinCaps will celebrate the Fourth of July at Parkview Field, as the team kicks off a seven-game homestand starting with an Independence Day matchup (Tuesday, 6:05 p.m.) against the Lake County Captains. The full 2017 promotional schedule will be released closer to the start of next season.

“In 2017, we’ll have fireworks at nearly half of our home games, and that’s a big hit with our fans,” Nutter said. “And we really owe a huge thank you to our fans for being the best in Minor League Baseball.”

On April 29, the TinCaps will host the South Bend Cubs at 1:05 p.m. — the first Saturday day game at Parkview Field — to highlight a four-game series in the Hoosier State rivalry.

Through 61 home games this season, the TinCaps have welcomed 369,525 fans to Parkview Field, an average of 6,058 per game — the highest average in franchise history. That average is higher than 13 of 30 Triple-A clubs and 27 of 30 Double-A teams and ranks second among the 100 Single-A squads.
