Downtown Holiday Window Decorating Contest: Winner Announced!

The Downtown Improvement District is pleased to announce the results of its second annual Downtown Holiday Window Decorating Contest! Designed to be a great opportunity for any Downtown business, organization, restaurant, etc. to join in the holiday cheer by decorating their window, this years contest saw a dramatic jump in votes of almost 60% over 2015! This years theme was: Joy to the World

Congratulations to our winner Andy Planck and the Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy, located at 218 Pearl Street in the Randall Lofts building, who garnered 19% of total votes. Our winner will receive a picture of their window featured in a thank-you ad in the Journal Gazette and News Sentinel, as well as being the featured window in all promotions of the contest in 2017!

Holiday window decorating is a tradition that had largely disappeared from Downtown for decades after the losses of stores such as Wolf and Dessauer, Murphys and others. With the loss of these stores it appeared that the magical memories they created would cease for thousands of Fort Waynes citizens. However, like window decorating, retail is making a triumphant return to Downtown Fort WayneHolly Trolley Shopping recently had roughly 70 businesses and attractions participate in the one-day Downtown shopping experience. There is no better way to celebrate the revival of Downtown retail than with the Downtown Holiday Window Decorating Contest!
