Ribbon Cutting Thursday For New Medical Device Product Manufacturer

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place this Thursday, January 26, to celebrate the grand opening of Global Medical Industries, Inc. The ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. at Global Medical’s headquarters at the Fort Wayne Enterprise Center, 1830 Wayne Trace. The ceremony will be followed by an open house until 4 p.m., offering tours of the manufacturing operation. Representatives from the City of Fort Wayne, Elevate Ventures, the Urban Enterprise Association and the Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center are expected to participate in the ceremony along with company owners Victor Lopez and Judy Lopez and various other community supporters.

Global Medical Industries, Inc. recently became the area’s first minority-owned supplier of products for the medical device industry when it was launched in early January. The company will specialize in manufacturing cost-effective, complex implants and instruments, including products for surgical procedures involving the upper and lower extremities, the spine, and large joints. A secondary focus will be supplying products for the aerospace industry.

The firm’s current staff of four is expected to expand to 12 employees by year-end 2017. For more information on Global Medical Industries, visit victor.lopez.
