USF Students Deliver Microscopes In Haiti

University of Saint Francis nursing students Elle and Caley Schoenherr traveled to Haiti to meet with Dr. Eugene Maklin and to deliver microscopes donated by the USF biology department and surgical tools donated by USF’s surgical technology program to New Hope Hospital.

The items were shipped to Haiti by the USF student group, Formula for Life, which has been working to build an orphanage in northern Haiti. Representing Formula for Life, Elle has also gathered information for the university’s inaugural medical mission trip in May 2017. She also supervised the installation of a rabbit farm on the orphanage’s land, which was funded by The Links Inc (Indy Chapter). Most of the students’ medical work will be at New Hope Hospital in Cap Haitien, Haiti.
