The American Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne honored Ivy Tech Community College Northeast with 11 awards during its annual Fort Wayne Advertising Honors event at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 25. Seven visual communications students were recognized with 10 awards, and the Marketing and Communications office was recognized with one.

The Fort Wayne Adverting Honors ceremony celebrates “best-in-show” audio, video, print, web and photography work from northeast Indiana’s marketing and advertising industry. A separate student division acknowledges “best-in-show” submissions from Huntington University, IPFW, Ivy Tech Northeast, and the University of Saint Francis.

“The fact our two-year community college students can compete successfully with four-year university students speaks volumes to the creatives industry,” says Erin Salyers, department chair for visual communications and design technology.

In addition to Ivy Tech Northeast’s student winners, the College’s Marketing and Communications office won a silver award in the Nonprofit Advertising–Print category for its “A Reason to Taste” fundraiser invitation.

All competition entries were created between January and December 2016. Winners were determined by out-of-town, impartial judges, and money raised from the event is applied toward local student scholarships and professional development programming for local marketing and advertising professionals.
