3Rivers Federal Credit Union will power the 2017-2018 cycles of Amplify Art! with a $1,500 matching opportunity for each project.
Amplify Art! is a crowdfunding program that mobilizes community support for and awareness of diverse creative projects, relying on social media advocacy and small contributions from a large number of donors. Arts United seeds selected projects with $1,000, and then donations from individuals are matched $1 for $1 up to a total of $1,500 for each project by 3Rivers Federal Credit Union. Amplify Art was initiated in 2015 by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
"Having a matching opportunity entices more donors to support projects, and in turn our community has more access to arts and culture experiences. Businesses like 3Rivers pave the way for a more vibrant community by putting resources behind ideas that propel community involvement," said Dan Ross, Vice President of Community Development at Arts United.
Any organization or individual in northeast Indiana can submit a project to be considered for Amplify Art! A volunteer committee reviews applications twice a year and recommends projects for each session. Applications for the next session will be due on August 15, 2017, and the session runs the entire month of October. Grant guidelines can be found online at artsunited.org/amplify.
Priority will be given to projects that amplify participation in local arts and culture; exemplify entrepreneurial, innovative or transformational spirit; involve organizations with established networks and social media followings; and can be completed by organizations with a track record of success and accountability.
