Bishop Luers Celebrates Homecoming Sept. 22

All are invited to celebrate Bishop Luers High School Homecoming festivities on Friday, Sept. 22.

Events open with the celebration of Mass in the new Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi at 4:30 p.m. After Mass, the Distinguished Knight Award recipients will be announced. Bishop Luers is accepting nominations for these two awards.

The Outstanding Alumnus/Alumna Award honors a graduate who has contributed outstanding and distinguished service to his or her chosen profession and community. This individual lives out the mission of Bishop Luers High School in his or her everyday life and contributes outstanding dedication, support and service to Bishop Luers. The outstanding alumnus(a) also demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the Catholic Church and its principles. Alumni nominees must be at least five years from graduation from Bishop Luers. Staff alumni nominees must have served Bishop Luers for at least three years.

The Honorary Alumnus Award is open to friends, faculty, former faculty, staff, and benefactors who have lived out the spirit and mission of Bishop Luers High School through leadership and action. This individual will have contributed outstanding dedication, support and service to Bishop Luers and to his or her community. He or she demonstrates their commitment to the Catholic Church and its principles.

A tailgate dinner will be in the tent by the friary from 5:30- 7 p.m. The chicken dinner, served by Halls Restaurants, includes coleslaw, chips, cookie and lemonade. Cost is $5, $3 for children under 10, or $20 per family.

Events also include a Corn Hole Tournament at 5:30 p.m. by the friary. Cost is $20 per two-person team or $10 for a single to-be-paired player. Cash prizes will be awarded. Register by contacting Shawn Johnson at preLKevents or call 260-385-3947.

The highlight game will place Bishop Luers against Northrop in the stadium at 7 p.m..

Alumni and friends are invited to a homecoming party at Nine Mile restaurant, located at 13398 U.S. 27 South, Fort Wayne, from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Greta Speaks, which features Vince Saul of the Bishop Luers Class of 1990.
