USF Rewarding High School Artistic Talent With Scholarships

The University of Saint Francis will award scholarships to incoming students based on reviews and auditions during Talent Scholarship Day, Saturday, November 4 from 1-5 p.m. in the Mimi and Ian Rolland Center for Art and Visual Communication off Leesburg Road, the Auer Center for Arts and Culture at 300 E. Main St. and the Music Technology Center at 431 W. Berry St. Appointments are required.

Talent Scholarship Day gives incoming USF students the opportunity to submit a portfolio for review and/or audition for scholarship consideration in art history, music technology, dance, studio art, graphic design, art education, animation, communication, pre-art therapy, museum studies, marching band, color guard and choir. High school juniors are invited to participate to receive feedback in preparation for their senior year. Portfolios and auditions are critiqued by USF School of Creative Arts faculty.

Awarded scholarships are renewable for eight semesters if the required grade point average is maintained in addition to any academic scholarships or need-based grants a student might also receive.

For a music or band audition, call Dr. Steven Kandow at (260) 399-7700 ext. 8024. For a visual arts, communication or dance review, call Molly McGowan at (260) 399-8064. For more information, visit gosf.edu/usf-artportfolio. Facility and campus tours are also available.

The School of Creative Arts is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Founded in 1944, NASAD establishes national standards for art and design undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials.
